Why we built FastLoader
Download managers on the Mac are few and mostly dated. Here is the story behind FastLoader, and how it splits one file across many connections.
If you have ever moved from Windows to a Mac, you may have felt what we felt: big downloads suddenly seem slow and fragile. The internet blips for a second, the download fails, and you start again from zero.
One file, many connections
The core idea is simple. Instead of downloading a file over one connection, FastLoader splits it into parts and downloads them all at once. When one connection finishes early, it takes over the rest of the work from the slowest one. The result: downloads no longer hang at 99%.
Internet dropped? Just wait
The most annoying thing is a download failing because the connection dropped. FastLoader saves the position of every connection and retries on its own, waiting a little longer each time. You do not have to press anything. If the link expires, paste a new one and the part already downloaded is kept.
Not just files
Many of us also save reference videos from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. So FastLoader can download a video from its link, save the caption, and file it into one folder per account.
What is next
FastLoader 0.6 is being tested on Mac and Windows. Once it is publicly released, the download link will be on the FastLoader page.
